Handcrafted Joy

Intentionally created, lovingly tended joy — made by hand and heart.

Juli — still becoming

a note before you wander

Hi, I'm Juli. My hands are usually covered in something.

For most of my life, I thought joy was a destination — something waiting at the end of the hard road, a reward for finally getting it right. Then life handed me a season I couldn’t fix, couldn’t rush, couldn’t write my way out of.

In that quiet, I learned the truth I want to share with you here: there is joy the hands know that the mind can’t reach.Flour on the counter, soil under the nails, paint on the apron — the making itself is where I found my way back.

This is the space where I share what I’m learning as I learn it. Not from a mountaintop, but from the middle of the climb. Pull up a chair. Stay a while.

the heart of this pillar

Beauty in the ordinary, made by hand.

Handcrafted is the simple pleasure of creating something with our own hands — in brushstrokes and garden beds, fresh eggs gathered from the coop, and well-loved recipes made in a flour-dusted kitchen. It is finding beauty in the ordinary and meaning in the work of our hands.

This pillar is where I gather the making — the planting, painting, tending, and stirring. The DIY projects and the kitchen wins and the garden harvests. Little things, made slowly, made with love. Because joy isn’t only found — sometimes it’s built, one small creation at a time.

“Joy isn’t only found. Sometimes it’s made — with flour-dusted hands and a heart willing to try.”

Below and to the right you’ll find the stories — the real ones, taped up like pages from my journal. Some are tidy. Some are not. All of them are true.
the verse I keep coming back to

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory.”

Behind the Curtain

"I was never invisible. I was becoming. And God was standing beside me the entire time." A honest reflection on love, sacrifice, and finding your own light from behind the curtain.

More Than a Cross

Wearing this symbol opened unexpected doors for open, meaningful conversations about God across different faiths, giving me the courage to share my beliefs with confidence and without shame.

Ripples

A chance encounter with a young child's headstone on the freeway serves as a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile life is, proving that a life's measure is defined by love rather than years.
A father in a cowboy hat kneels to hold his young daughter's hands at a diner counter, a quiet moment of love between them.

‘Pancakes, Chocolate Milk, and Grace!’

An unexpected diner encounter with a struggling father shifts a rushed morning into a powerful lesson on compassion, showing that listening to a stranger's heavy story is a sacred privilege rather than an inconvenience.
