“Getting rid of ‘Mr. Bad Boy’

Walking Beside You

Juli Riggs

Welcome to the journey of becoming. This is a space for the messy, the memorable, and the miracle-laced moments where we learn to feel deeply, see fully, and fall into the indescribable joy God created us for.

Savannah has completed her antibiotics for the kidney infection and is healed up enough that they are ready to move forward with surgery. In her appointment with her Oncologist on Thursday, options were discussed as to how to move forward:

  1. Do nothing and wait and watch the growth for changes
  2. Do a needle biopsy (not confident that we will get an accurate sample for pathology
  3. Laparoscopic Biopsy
  4. De-Bulking surgery where they go in and remove as much of the mass as possible without risking injury to the spine or surrounding organs
  5. Full resection surgery where they go in with the intention of removing all or as much as possible.

After understanding all of the risks and thinking about what would be best for our Savannah, it was decided to pick option #4. De-Bulking Surgery

Savannah goes in for surgery at Primary Children’s Hospital tomorrow morning. Surgery will be early afternoon and will take approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours. She will remain in the hospital for the week or until her body is healed enough to go home.

Pathology takes time. We hope to have results while she is inpatient but that has not been promised. We will share updates as we receive them.

We are confident in Savannah’s Oncology and Surgical team. There have been so many who have joined us in fasting and prayer on behalf of our little girl and her doctors. Thank you from the bottom of hearts for the love, the kindness, the service, the pictures, treats and gifts. The prayers, the hope and the faith on behalf of our family and our little girl.

When Savannah was admitted last week, she named her mass ‘Mr. Bad Boy’ and she is ready to get ‘Mr. Bad Boy’ out so she can heal in time for Halloween. We are in awe and truly humbled by her strong Faith. We know our loving Heavenly Father and Mother have not left her comfortless through this. She has been held.

‘Mr. Bad Boy’ has to come out and tomorrow is the day.

We love you!
